Complete System Retrofit

Furnace, Evap. Coil, Condensing Unit – Friendswood, TX

Job Introduction

Mr. Flanders came to us to with multiple problems. High energy bills, high humidity, system running continuously on hot & steamy days. Upon inspection we found dangerous carbon monoxide, massive air leaks through return and supply sides, broken ducts, and rusted out evaporator coil. We found a very unsafe flue vent just taped together and held up with some sheet metal.

Job Details

We removed the outdated and dangerous equipment. We tackled the humidity problem by using the Amana GUIV variable speed 2 stage gas furnace. The blower allows for a slower air speed to cross over the evaporator coil removing more moisture from the air. Further action was taken by adding a thermostat for greater control over the blower and cooling system. All return and supply plenums were removed and replaced. Dampers were installed on new supply plenum to help balance the airflow throughout the house. A additional return air can was installed to bring in correct air exchange. This was done by running duct design calculations with Manual D. We also removed and replaced all hard duct with flexible duct. Flex duct when installed properly can provide proper comfort to all areas of the house.

UPDATE: Home owner has brought us up-to-date that his electric bill dropped dramatically and his comfort has improved 10 fold. Indoor humidity levels have held steady between 45-50% RH during the tropical Houston summer.
