Seeing the Nest thermostat on the wall, and its glowing eye and the fact that it is making system control decisions on it’s own, I can’t help but think of Hal, the computer from Arthur C. Clarke’s science fiction 2001 – A Space Odyssey.
When accessing it from the iPhone I keep wondering when it plans to lock me out of the house. 
Chill Hal, chill. I’m coming home early and just wanted to adjust the temperature for when I get home. If that’s OK with you.

I just installed a new Nest in the office and every time I walk by it I get a little freaked out.
